Gregory Parkinson for Anthropologie

There are people in life whom you meet that have such a grace and mannerism about them that is so genuine… that you will always remember that encounter.  

I met designer Gregory Parkinson at my girlfriend’s going away party. When we got to chatting, he was kind enough to give me some tips and advice on my lip balm, as well  some contacts over at C magazine. In LA people just don’t offer up help or advice so easily… Usually you have to wine and dine someone to have a conversation like that..  I appreciated that.

At the time when we met he was just getting his line up and running and was on the verge of really getting it out there… still he was so humbled. A year later I went to one of his sample sales at Palihouse, and again—he was so kind.  As I watched his career enter the spotlight through facebook postings, getting nods by Vogue Editor Anna Wintour, and doing a stint on a fashion series, whenever I’d reach out to him with questions or advice he had the same genuine kindness with his replies.

Three years later and much regarded recognition under his belt… Gregory’s Trans Seasonal Collection is coming to Anthropologie.

When I heard the news… It was one of those super happy feelings… Like— “it couldn’t of happen to a more nicer person”

Henna LOVE

While pondering the thought of outfits and adornments to wear for music festival season, I realized.. Wait.. What’s missing?? Aah yes— getting my Henna done. I LOVE Henna art, and usually get some art done before each festival. Henna was regarded for luck as well as joy and beauty. In many countries Henna signifies celebration, and at one point I considered learning henna art because I love celebration, let alone it’s elegant and pensive style speaks to my mystical and spiritual side. 

There are many places to get Henna done, but I usually go to the Indian market on Washington Blvd in Culver City… a place you wouldn’t know did Henna unless you asked the girl at the register…

Black Milk Leggings…. All the Rage!!

Last night we went out dancing with friends… one of our girlfriend’s, Anthea had on these Black Milk Leggings. Surprisingly my husband knew she had on the Black Milk’s… when he pointed them out. She smiled and said yes— it’s my latest obsession. What is Black Milk—I ask?

Apparently these printed LEGGINGS are all the rage.  Ladies of all ages are completely obsessed and buying them up… searching for deals on line, because the price for one of these babies is upwards $75, Ummm yes! that’s a pretty penny for a pair of leggings. Then again… there is something very unique about each pair— most of these leggings prompted “limited” and “sold out”… which makes you obsess on them more!

I finally had a chance to check out Black Milks website and can now see why?!!  Even my new black shiny leggings don’t compare to these stylish printed galaxy ones.

Would you buy a pair of these for the price?? I will say throughout the evening Anthea got props and compliments everywhere we went.

Kiki and Kenna Dance…

Hey Hey Venice Locals!  you know those two sweet gals Kiki and Kenna who recently moved their Jewelry shop from AK to 100 Market St. (off pacific, just a couple doors down from Mao’s Kitchen), Well,  they have a bright new spot and adding a few new things to their repertoire. LIKE a friday night DANCE CLASS?? Say what… that’s what I said. They now have a donation only class held Friday night upstairs in their loft.  Aside from doing their usual wire wrapping classes and selling their awesome uber popular chunky rings, made with various types of crystals, stones and rocks. They are now dancing the night away… doesn’t that sound fun?!  it’s definitely something to dance about. Nail Art

Darlings,  Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Mine was mellow… just what I needed.

Last night I was searching around my pinterest  and nail art kept popping up. In fact, I’ve noticed a considerable amount of nail art on the pin-feed? I guess nail art is what’s trending.  Being the all natural girl that I am, I rarely get my nails done— let alone wear nail polish. I’ve just gotten into the habit of not having all those chemicals on my nails, but seeing all these great nail designs made me want to get all snazzy!! 

Before I get all crazy with nail designs. First thing first… Finding nail polish that isn’t harsh and mostly chemical free. I know there is Zoya but what else is there?

Spotted: I found Megan Miller’s Collection—her line looks amazing and completely free of super harsh chemicals like,   Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP),  Toluene, Formaldehyde which if you must know is very harmful to the liver and kidneys. I am also loving her cork packaging.

My Sexy Valentine….

Darlings, Did you get what you wanted for Valentines?… showered with love praises, candies, cards and flowers?  I saw a slew of facebook postings of adorations, quotes, and women saying they were coming home to their men making them dinner… How fabulous is that?   

I did see one husband posting a photo of his better half in lingerie! and I thought.. hmm.. now that is sexy and tasteful. Why not? clearly, he was showing off his beautiful wife, and not just professing his love, but showing her sexy side..  definitely hot!. 

While the thought of my husband making me dinner is certainly a beautiful gesture… prancing around in sexy lingerie just seems a lot more fun for my valentine. I mean isn’t everyday filled with love, romance and yummy desserts?  I hope some of you got what this guy got… even if you made dinner first. get your sexy time for dessert!

Sweet darlings,  Once a time I was spent a lot of time in fashion. These days I’ve been admiring Rodarte but some years ago an old friend turned me onto Vivienne Westwood, who says it best with this quote, “Sometimes you need to transport your idea to an empty landscape and then populate it with fantastic looking people.”   Seeing some of these photos reminds me I need to recreate my wardrobe this year.

Pattern Bar

Enjoying this beautiful weather still? gotta love southern california!  I took a trip downown (LA), to pick up some more dresses from my gal Ruthie of Daughters of the Revolution( been having a serious CRUSH on their dresses), and ran into this cute little bar/eatery called, Pattern Bar with drinks named after Designers like Chanel, McQueen, Dior… Check out their link here… located on 9th in the Fashion district and just opened  6 months ago.
