Last Minute Wishes

Hey Lovies. How’s your hump day going?? I have some exciting news. I am “officially” throwing my first event…  (we’ll I’ve thrown parties, events for some times, but unofficially and off the radar),  a Holiday Pop Up shop called Last Minute Wishes in Studio 1520.  For years I have been looking for a loft space, mostly traveling downtown hoping to find a magical space, but the space never seemed to come to light. Perhaps it was just the timing of it all??

I’ve envisioned throwing speak easy kind of parties, but it seemed to be one of those ideas in the wings but never flew off the ground. Then I met my partner in crime (my hubbie), and together we began throwing small friendly gatherings at our pad. creating themes…that explored art, fashion and music. at the very least filling my need to connect socially and creatively with like minded friends, and eventually making some of those ideas come to life.

I’ve had a long history in entertainment production, and have been surrounded by musicians all of my life. I’m also a foodie, a fashion lover and an art collector. In fact food, music, photography pretty much hits home on every level.  and although I love fashion I am not good with shopping in malls, or large places. I am more of a boutique shopper and a supporter of community.

Then, as luck would have it, timing and being inherently intuitive, Studio 1520 (which is now my writing space), entered my life. Once here I started thinking about throwing events. naturally my mind gravitated toward art, music and photography. the space was booked until January with a small window of time before Christmas Day.  I was chatting with my girlfriend who said… “throw a holiday party at the space, have local designers for a last minute shopping event”.  I thought– well there’s an idea– because I am definitely one of those ” last minute” shoppers.  and a designer event on the west-side is few and far between. those events usually happen downtown and on a grand scale which is not my cup of tea.  but in a more intimate setting, definitely. In one weeks time– the idea manifested,  I’m excited in promoting these artist… connecting is something I’ve always been drawn to and having parties is just like having another piece of the pie. Excellent.

Last Minute Wishes will be held on Dec 20th 6pm-11pm at Studio 1520.

1520 2nd street between Colorado and Broadway.  The event is FREE * $5 parking … (yes there is security and a door person). So Please come down and support your local designers.  I mean you are the 99% right??

Since I find facebook event page so time consuming and a pain to post pictures quickly.  I decided every day until the event I would post photos and links of the designers participating on my blog. that way you can chime in and see who will be there. We have 23 amazing designers and three sponsors… Oh and my LIP BALM that has been on a year long hiatus while I dealt with my fledging writer career will finally see the light of day. I have rebranded it’s name to LIP JOY ( formerly Hiwa Lani by Maharlika)… now simplified and just as amazing!!
