Monarch Masquerade

November 5th, 2011 § Leave a Comment

It feels like FALL has finally arrived (at least for now), in So Cally.  I put on a cozy sweater as the chilly rain and pillowy grey clouds hovered over venice. I decided a nice coat of dark nail polish would  also give me a little warmth.

Keeping up with this years Masquerade theme, I’m loving this non toxic color called Monarch Masquerade by Karma Organic Spa. So put on a nice dark coat and enjoy the cool air this weekend lovelies!

… and there goes August.

Hello Darlings.   I seriously can’t believe this month is almost over and only one more month of summer left!  I’ve been on the down low, so not much writing has been taking place in blog form. Lately, I’ve been contributing to WE LOVE VENICE… known as Welo, an awesome local venice community based site. I feel fortunate to share some of my finds there, so please check them out when you get a chance and spread the love. If you’re wondering why I haven’t been out there socializing, It’s because I am back in the crafting mode making lip balm and being my creative self. As most of you know, lip balm making has been my small business endeavor for the past seven years. It’s one of my greatest inventions… and when you have one of those great ones, all you want to do is fine tune every aspect of it. though there have been times I’ve sold it in stores and on-line, I am constantly revisiting that simple fact of making it better. Last November when my husband and I were in Spain, I was inspired to rebrand my lip balm and change the name, so i’ve been slowly rebranding it’s new name, redesigning the website, labels and packaging. the product remains the same, still completely wonderful and emollient, and almost ready! I can’t wait to show you it’s latest look.. I’ll tell you one thing, It’s better than ever. so more on that a bit later….

Now let’s get to a few events going on in the last couple weeks of August… but first a little notation that in September, I will be taking a two week break from blogging. I won’t be updating much if at all until after Sept 15th. September is an extremely busy month for me on a lot of levels. September is my birthday month, and this year out of all years is a pretty special one. It hasn’t really hit me, but this decade of my life will be ending in a matter of 20 days days, and to celebrate it in the most completely extravagant and extraordinary way, I’m headed to Black Rock city for the one and only Burning Man festival. I think it was the ” Rites of Passage” theme that drew me in… and it feels so right.  Spending my last week in my 30′s riding my bike on the playa with a endless sea of art, music and community… kind of a brilliant icing on the cake to this incredible decade called my thirties.  My birthday literally falls two days after Burning man ends,  after which I’ll be switching gears mentally and heading up to Joshua Tree to spend the first weekend of my forties at the Bhakti festival, where I’ll be practicing yoga and being enlightened in every possible way. I feel incredibly blessed to have chosen this time in my life to do these events, both extremely powerful in a creative and spiritual way, and certainly one that will be an explosive ending and a bright new beginning.
